Privacy Policy

Song Infos is built so that your music data stays with you. Your library and your listening history are read and stored on your iPhone. This policy explains the few things that do leave your device, why, and who processes them. It covers the Song Infos app for iOS and the website songinfos.de.

Who is responsible

Song Infos is developed and operated by Firat Can Sülünkü, who is responsible for the processing described here. For any question about your data, or to exercise one of your rights, write to [email protected].

Data on your device

Song Infos reads your music library through Apple's frameworks once you allow access. The statistics it builds from it, such as play counts, skip counts, listening time and your listening history, are stored in a database on your iPhone.

If iCloud is turned on, a copy of this database is kept in your personal iCloud so it survives a reinstall or moves to a new iPhone. It is stored in your Apple Account under Apple's terms; we have no access to it.

Song titles, artists, play counts and your listening history are not uploaded to us.

Data that leaves your device

Usage analytics, crash reports and performance

To find bugs and improve the app, it sends technical information: which screens are opened, crash and error reports, performance measurements, the app and iOS version, the device model, and a random identifier. This does not include your song titles or listening history.

Purchases and subscriptions

Payments are handled entirely by Apple. To know whether Premium is active, the app checks your purchase with our purchase service using an anonymous app user ID, which you find under More > About Song Infos. We never receive your payment details.

Paywalls

The screens that offer Premium are loaded from a paywall service. To show the right offer, it receives the anonymous app user ID, technical device information and events such as which offer was shown, closed or bought.

The AI chat

When you use the AI chat, your question is sent to our own server together with the part of your statistics needed to answer it, for example the titles of the ten songs in a top list you asked for. Our server forwards the request to an AI provider and returns the answer. Your whole library is never sent, and nothing is sent while you do not use the chat. The request is not linked to your name or Apple Account. Our server does not store the content of your conversations. To protect the service from abuse, the app proves that requests come from a genuine copy of Song Infos through Apple's App Attest.

Answers are generated automatically and can be wrong. If you do not want any of your music data to leave your device, do not use the AI chat.

Support chat

If you contact us through the support chat in the app, the messages you write, any attachments you send, and technical details about the app and your device are processed so we can answer you. The conversation is tied to a random identifier stored on your device, not to your name.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Apple's push notification service and a messaging service deliver them. For that, your device's push token is processed. Reminders such as your weekly recap are created on your device.

Configuration and catalog data

The app loads settings from a configuration service, and it may load artwork and catalog information from Apple Music through Apple's interfaces.

Service providers

We use the following providers. They process data only on our behalf and for the purposes described above. Some of them are located outside the European Union, mainly in the United States; transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your data for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps and websites.

This website

When you visit songinfos.de, our web server processes the data your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser, to deliver the page and keep it secure. These server logs are deleted after a short period.

If you choose a language, it is remembered in a small cookie named lang for one year. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this website. The App Store badge is loaded from Apple's servers, which therefore receive your IP address.

Where the GDPR applies, we process data to provide the app and the features you use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), on the basis of our legitimate interest in a stable, secure and improving app and website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and with your consent where it is required, for example for notifications (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time in the iOS settings.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Data stored only on your device or in your iCloud can be deleted at any time by deleting the app or its iCloud data in the iOS settings.

Children

Song Infos is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top.
